Project 10 | Complete
Halloween is the only holiday that I really care to recognize (unless you count grabbing a beer with the coven on Walpurgis Night). After the sugar-fuelled children crash out, and the teenagers bore of their own shenanigans, and the college students have all stumbled into bed... the quiet night fills with ghosts and goblins, witches and werewolves, and time for one more cocktail before bed... what's not to like?
This year, while preparing for the festivities, I got to enjoy watching my inbox fill with wood spirits, green ghosts, crazy eyes, horned beasts, and a ghost in the machine. Always a good time.
Thanks, folks!
ps: If you made a mask and haven't sent it yet, let me know and I'll add it when I get it.

PD | Freaked Out Frida
She is not cut out for these times.
Materials: cardboard, gouache, Elmer’s glue, embroidery thread (also: box cutter, bottom of a laundry basket as a stencil, scissors, X-Acto knife, sewing needle, stacks of books to weigh down the parts being glued together).
I did not set out to create Frida, specifically, she is who showed up as I made shapes and started putting them together.

People are asking whether AI is starting to think more and more like a human. Ironically, the more I hear about this subject, the more I wonder whether we humans actually think more like AI.
The signaling of neurons in our brains has inspired the neural networks that underpin LLMs. As you dig more deeply, the distinctions between brains and data centers become increasingly superficial: organic chemistry and semiconductor technology, neurons and transistors, carbon and silicon. And ultimately, both can be viewed as collections of particles and energy, simply obeying the same laws of physics.
Is not the face we wear simply a mask for the matter, physics, and chemistry that lie beneath?
Material: Software written with Claude Opus 5.5
